Teaching Your Kids at Home
Homeschooled kids learn more life lessons than their counterparts who go to school. Kids in school learn a lot of academics, they know their maths, they know their sciences and all other subjects but life lessons are nowhere to be found.
Many schools do not each life lessons and so their graduates end up not knowing how to live life as a grownup. Homeschooling parents are privileges to be able to teach life lessons to their children aside from their regular subjects.
Here are some examples of life lessons that you can teach your children at home.
Sure we have home economics classes in school, but this is not enough to help the child live and fend for himself. With homeschooler parents they don’t just teach their kids to cook and clean as part of their schooling, they incorporate all of these lessons learned in real daily life.
Letting children clean as they go produces a great habit for children. It should be a part of every lesson to clear up and then it become a habit to them to clean as they go.
Teaching children how to budget is also important. The reason why many adults get into financial trouble is that they have never been taught to budget. Although schools teach about money in math, budgeting is not a part of it. And herein lies the problem.
There are many activities that you can do with your children to teach them how to budget. You can use play money and a play till, and acting out shopping experience. Going to a child friendly store like Anthill shop N play is a great place to teach budgeting. Here you can give them a budget each and ask them to buy some items in that store. Give them an allowance good for a month and see how they fare in budgeting. With only one month to last, they can spend their money on food, toys, activities and other things.
Schools teach children to eat healthy and stay active but not to take care of oneself. And because of this a lot of children don’t know how to take care of their wellbeing effectively.
To help calm their minds and relax them, you can teach them meditation. To reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, teach them to use deep breathing. Help them to express themselves and their feeling in different ways like art or other ways of self expression.
As a homeschooling parents you have the opportunity to educate your children on these things. They will have better chances of a happier and more successful future.
